NHL in HD Schedule

My NHL schedule is now ready, there are still a few blanks, but it is complete enough to be released right now. I will try to post any updates as they become available. As of right now over 76% of this year’s games will be in HD somewhere. 13 teams will have more then 40 of their regional broadcasts available in HD, most teams broadcast around 70 games regionally, with the other games on national TV or not on TV.

This schedule is unofficial and subject to change, if you see anything that needs to be changed please let me know.

College Football–Week 3

Week three of the College Football season starts Thursday, and all of the networks have their game schedules set. We’re still waiting to receive coverage maps and regional schedules, but we can usually expect those on Wednesday around mid-afternoon here on the east coast.

First of all, it should be known that the Big Ten Network’s “Gamefinder” is live for their noon eastern time games. Those unfamilair with the BTN service will find a clickable map with the game being broadcast in your area and access to more Big Ten Network coverage information.

ABC is airing 4 games at 3:30 PM EST Saturday, and one at 8 PM. According to all the news we heard earlier this year, all games are going to be in high definition on ABC and ESPN networks, but judging from last weeks coverage maps, we may not be so lucky. Some games were broadcast in standard definition last week despite the all-HD hopes we had going into the season.

For the reverse mirror this weekend, ABC and ESPN (not ESPN 2 as in weeks past) will be splitting the Oregon vs Purdue and the Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech games at 3:30 PM. Again, be sure to check back when the maps are available to see which game will be available in your area.

In a twist yet unseen this year, CBS has two games airing in the 3:30 game slot, and (at least with the NFL) they have told us they do not release coverage maps. Time will tell what happens with this, but we will dig up some sort of information on which game air when. Look for that in a post tomorrow.
Update: CBS will be airing only the Georgia vs South Carolina game in National HD.

Here’s the game schedule for College Football Thursday September 11 through Saturday September 13.

History of the NFL in High Definition

With the first complete NFL High Definition Season quickly approaching, I am using this guest blog entry to chronicle the High Definition History of the NFL.

Ten years after the first NFL game was broadcast in high definition, every regular season game for the 2008 season is set to be broadcast in HD.

We have come a long way to get to this point… (more…)

RSNs shuffle MLB HD schedules for NHL Playoffs

In addition to the changes to the FSN Detroit HD schedule posted yesterday, other RSNs around the country are also shuffling their schedule due to the NHL playoffs. (more…)

FSN Detroit shuffles HD schedule for NHL Playoffs

Due to the NHL playoffs, some Detroit Tigers high definition games which were previously announced will no longer be available in HD. (more…)

MLB Schedule Changes

With the NHL playoffs set to start later this week there will likely be some changes to the MLB HD schedule. I will try to stay on top of of the changes as they are announced, so check back for the latest changes.

More to Come

I have added a post on the history of the NFL in HD to the blog, its back dated to when it was originally posted so click here to go directly to it.

More blog entries on the history and future of HD sports coverage are in the works. Also updates to the MLB HD Schedule will occur throughout the season, so check back often.

MLB HD Schedule Update

I have published an updated copy of the MLB HD schedule, link are below.

All game times and broadcasters are confirmed through the end of April. Game times and broadcasters for May and beyond will be confirmed as the season progresses.

The HD status of each game is believed to be correct right now, however, changes are likely to occur, please check back often for updates. More HD games will be added as some broadcasters have only released partial HD schedule. Very few games at this point will be moved from HD to SD, but it most likely will happen.

Note: Some of the game times for Cardinals home games from May and beyond our off by an hour. This problem will be fixed with the next update and was caused by incorrect times on the original Cardinals schedule.

MLB HD Schedule

The 2008 MLB HD schedule is now ready for release. Below you will find two excel files for your download. One of them is the full schedule for all MLB games, the other allows you to sort by your favorite team to see a single team’s games at once.

A few notes about what a “yes”, “no”,or blank in the HD column means:

Yes: The game is either confirmed in HD by the respective network or there is significant reason for me to believe that this game will be in HD.

No: The game is either confirmed to not be in HD by the respective network or there is significant reason for me to believe that this game will not be in HD.

A Blank: Not enough information is available at this time to make it a yes or no. Some will become “yes” but most I feel will become a no.

If you see an errors or have information to add please let me know by leaving a comment.

This schedule will be updated throughout the season as more information becomes available and schedule changes occur.
