NFL in HD Through the Years
By now almost everyone knows that all regular season and playoff NFL games will be in HD starting with the 2008 season. Before we get there though I thought I would provide a look back at the NFL in HD through the years.
The NFL in HD started with CBS in the 1998 season. That year they did 3 regular season games in HD plus a playoff game. Buffalo and the New York Jets played in those first two games as both of their divisional matchups were televised in HD that year. Kansas City and Oakland was the third HD regular season game that year for CBS. All of these broadcasts were separate telecasts then the standard definition telecasts. They had a separate production truck, with their own cameras, replays and graphics.
Alot has changed in the 10 seasons since that first HD broadcast. 925 HD broadcasts later we are ready for an all HD season. Check back later for more NFL in HD history.
