9/20 ESPN ABC & Big10 College Football Maps

Week 4 Coverage Maps have been released by ESPN and ABC for their reverse coverage of Saturday’s 3:30 games and Big Ten Network has put out its map for the noon games.

Unlike last week, it looks like both games featured in the ABC/ESPN reverse mirror will be in high definition on either ABC or ESPN. That does not mean, however, that all three of the games ABC will broadcast at 3:30 will be in high definition. Miami’s trip to Texas A&M will be broadcast in standard definition. Both the Virginia Tech vs UNC and the Notre Dame vs MSU games will be in high definition, though networks will vary depending on your region.

For the Big Ten Network’s noon EST games, four of their five broadcasted games are in high definition. Fortunately for most of the country, the Big Ten game will be in high definition. Be sure to check the map below to see which high definition game you’re getting from the Big Ten Network…except you, Illinois (you have to watch Ohio at Northwestern in standard def.) Also, Big Ten has a cool feature called Game Finder, which gives network availability information according to zip code. It’s worth a look if you’re not sure about the Big Ten Network in your area.

UPDATE 9/19: Coverage Maps have changed for the Orlando Area. Now, instead of acting on its own, the Orlando Market will carry the same reverse mirror as the rest of Florida.

Why does ABC/ESPN schedule more games than what they can show in HD? Why are they showing Nascar on ESPN2 at 330 instead of an extra HD football game? I get the joy of watching ND/Michigan State in standard def in North Carolina because of their stupidity.

Ok, for those in Atlanta. I dont get the ESPN coverage map. It says the Yellow ND/MSU coverage is only on the STANDARD DEF ESPN. What? They run different programming on SD vs. HD? then what is on HD? ABC HD in ATL is the Vtech game, so it wont be on ESPN HD also.

hey I don’t know why but half the text on this page is really big and jumbled together

  4. Tom Says:

hey you made a typo. 4 of the 5 BTN games are going to be in HD (you put 3 of 4)

  5. HDSportsGuide Says:

    Tom–

Thanks for the typo heads up. Fixed it. As for your garbled text problem-did it correct itself? What browser are you using?

Is anyone else experiencing jumbled text issues?

  6. Tom Says:

hey just to let you know that DirecTV and Dish Network subscribers get all of the BTN games that are produced in HD in HD (the main game and overflows). As for cable they only get the game thats on the main channel in their area in HD (if its produced in HD) but some systems (Comcast for 1) still carry some or all of the other games but they won’t be in HD due to limited bandwidth.

This ESPN/ABC arrangement absolutely sucks. So if I’m reading this right, those of us in Texas will get Miami/TAMU in SD on ABC, Notre Dame/Mich St on ESPN in SD, and cannot see VA Tech/UNC at all. Great job losers.

  8. Chucky Says:

I use IE7 and had jumbo/jumbled text on this thread until the problem was fixed.
