We are really hoping that our information is wrong, but we still have not seen anything official confirming that they will be. We followed up with our contact and he indicated that right now the best information is that they are planning 6-7 a week, but he will let us know if he hears anything different. I guess we will find out soon enough....

Ed,

It's not a truck issue, that's the easy part. The issue with CBS is that they need to have enough HD control rooms in NY to be able to get all those games at the same time and insert all of the commercials. Converting those control rooms to HD isn't cheap and some will only get used for the NFL. BTN isn't doing as many live games at the same time.

FOX uses a different system (called a splicer) since they got into HD later then CBS but reduces the HD quality if they have many games at once.

CBS is going for quality over quantity.

its interesting that for the biggest sport in america they can't get it in HD yet the big ten channel manages to get field hockey and college baseball in HD, you'd think CBS could scrounge up some extra trucks & equipment to get w/ the program.

I don't know if I'd say Fox outclassed anyone. They're still the network with the dancing robot.

CBS needs to get with the program. Its the NFL, the freakin biggest league in America. Teams like Houston, TN, and Miami will be penalized. That's nuts. The ratings that the NFL gets for CBS, you would think CBS owes them. CBS needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Ridiculous. FOX outclasses CBS for yet another year.

2009 is the requirement for all games to be in HD, but both networks were assumed to have the infrastructure in place to do all games this season

That's interesting. People on AVS forum have led us to believe that the NFL TV contracts required all games to be in HD in 2008.
