CBS EliteXC Saturday Night Fights: Live May 31st
Fight fans have been looking forward to this first ever primetime network television mixed martial arts event for some time. As we told you last month, the premier of CBS EliteXC Saturday Night Fights will be available in high definition, as any fight worth watching should be.
This will be the first broadcast for CBS Saturday Night Fights, airing from 9:00 PM ET to 11:00 PM ET, Saturday, May 31, 2008. Gus Johnson, known primarily for his NFL, NCAA and Knicks broadcasts, will be the play-by-play announcer for the MMA event, with Frank Shamrock and Mauro Ranallo as analysts.
In case you missed it, here is the line up:
Main Event: Former street fighter Kimbo Slice will face England’s James “Collossus” Thompson
EliteXC Middle Weight Championship: “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler defends his title against Scott Smith
The Hottie vs the Nottie: The sexy “Gladiator” Gina Carano will face Kaitlin Young in a women’s fight
Other Fights: 185-pounders Phil Baroni and Joey Villasenor will fight, and heavyweights Brett Rogers and Jon Murphy will match up.
