College Football Maps for November 15th
On Saturday November 15th ABC, ESPN and the Big Ten Network will be regionalizing coverage of seven NCAA Football Games throughout the day. The networks have pre-determined which regions will get which games based on assumed fan following in specific markets. To see which game is airing in your area, you’ll need the maps below.
This is old hat to many of our faithful readers, but to those new to HDSportsGuide, regionalization and reverse mirrors can get confusing. The color coded maps below will illustrate which game will be airing on which channel.
At noon, the Big Ten Network is regionalizing two games. Unlike the ABC and ESPN maps, which have inserted below, the Big Ten Network site has a user interface which updates the visitor to BTN availability in their area as well as which game is airing. But really, judging from the BTN Game Finder for 11.15, you’re probably getting the Indiana vs Penn State Game.
ABC and ESPN regionalization get a bit more complicated. At 3:30, ABC picks up three games to split among US markets. This week, it will be airing two of them in high definition. The maps below denote which games are HD. To avoid airing the same game as its network affiliate, ESPN does what it calls a “reverse mirror,” where it regionalizes some of the same games as airing on ABC but in areas not already receiving the game on ABC. That way viewers don’t have to watch the same game on both ABC and ESPN. Check the ABC 3:30 map and the ESPN 3:30 map to see which games are airing where, and most importantly if you’re receiving them in HD.
In addition to the Big Ten market split and the ABC/ESPN reverse mirror, ABC is regionalizing the 8 o’clock Boston College vs Florida State and the Oklahoma State vs Colorado games. Both of these are in HD this week, but be sure to check the map for availability.

Again, no HD coverage in California for the 12:30/3:30 ABC game. Is it my imagination or has the West Coast come out on the short end in number of ABC games in HD this season? It would be interesting if someone were to do a count.

You forgot to add the USC vs. Stanford game on the lowly Versus HD channel, listed as VSGLF in the Yahoo TV listings (Channel 398 on dish Network).

We are having the same problem here in Oklahoma City. It’s rare that the 2:30 cental time game on ABC is HD here. Everyone that has HD needs to flood ABC with e-mails and letters about this. They owe people with HD TV an explanation and so far I have not heard any. What is strange is that any game I have seen on ABC that is not HD shows up in the high lights on ESPN that night in HD. Now what is the explanation for that??????????

It’s obvious they messed up on the 3:30 ABC coverage map. The colors are reversed as it puts Minnesota vs. Wisconsin everywhere BUT the midwest while the other game which has SEC teams is painted over Wisconsin and Minnesota’s coverage area.

It looks right to me. You may be looking at an alternate map for the reverse mirror.
