Comcast to Carry Big Ten Network

The Big Ten Network has reached a long time agreement with Comcast Cable to start broadcasting Big Ten in select Comcast markets starting August 15th.

The Big Ten Network has done a great job of broadcasting lots of different live Big Ten Conference sporting events in High Definition, and it is especially great during college football season. Comcast customers in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania (with the exception of Philadelphia) will start getting Big Ten HD on August 15, just in time for the 2008 College Football season.

According to the Big Ten/Comcast joint press release, Big Ten Network will now be available in over “two-thirds of all homes in Big Ten Country,” and this year the network indicates they will broadcast “more than 400 Big Ten sporting events…in high definition, including football, mens and womens basketball, baseball, softball and soccer.”

The Philadelphia area will still get Big Ten Network, just not on the basic tier.
