UEFA EURO to get HD studio broadcasts
The 2008 UEFA EURO Soccer Championships kick off on Sunday, June 8th and our contact at ESPN has informed us that the studio coverage as well as most of the games will be in HD.
We’ve known for quite a while about the Euro 2008 games in HD, but only recently found out about the HD studio coverage. Starting June 8, there will be an HD EURO matchup every day until the 22nd. The Semifinals and the Final will follow on June 25th, 26th and 29th, respectively.

While the note above indicates HD coverage, it would be nice if ESPN would apply the “HD” tag to their listings through DirecTV. So far, I have not seen a single “HD” logo or mention in the show notes/description. Maybe my guide data is out of date and it is showing now, but the other issue is that most games were showing to be played on ESPN Classic, which is not HD yet. Hopefully all of this is straightened out soon…either on my end or theirs.
