Fox Game of the Week: Saturday Sept. 20
The Fox Game of the Week for Saturday September 20th features three games, but the majority of American homes will be seeing the St. Louis Cardinals take on the Chicago Cubs.
As always, games start at 3:30 PM EST and which game you see in your area depends on which game your home town is listed under. In the past we’ve encountered some unhappy fans that say Fox doesn’t put the right games in the right areas. Hopefully, this week Fox has it right.
Right or wrong, let us know. Here’s the broadcast info:
| High Definition MLB on Fox: Saturday September 20 | |||
| DESCRIPTION | BROADCASTERS | COVERAGE | |

Why even show a game if only 9 percent of the country is getting it?

Phillies could be in first place Saturday morning and Fox29/Philly would not get the Cubs game. Mets could be in the wild-card lead Saturday morning and Fox5/NY would not get the Brewers game.
ABC will easily clean up in those areas with Notre Dame-Michigan State.

Fox should not be allowed to monopolize the showing baseball games ever. Especially on a Saturday when people should be able to choose to watch whatever game they want on Saturdays which might be their only day off. Just because you live in an area of the U.S., does not mean you’re a fan of the team in that town. People pay extra for cable to watch their own teams and Fox even blocks those games from being shown. Baseball is America’s favorite past time and everyone should have the right to watch whatever games they want NOT the one they choose! What Fox is doing is unconstitutional!!!!!!!

Cubs vs. Cardinals could be a playoff clinching game and 9% of the County, including Philadelphia, is going to be burdened with Brewers vs. Reds? It will be an easy decision to watch the Ryder Cup on NBC!

Tampa Bay Rays are the best story in baseball.
You really think the majority of the country wants another cubs/cardinals game that is meaningless?
I agree, fox should not get to monopolize games on Saturday afternoon. MLB get your act together for 2009.

This is atrocious. I’m a cubs fan in CT, and will be unable to watch them clinch. Instead, I get the Rays Twins. Thank you FOX and ESPN for now not letting a 14 year old to be unable to see the Cubs clinching game, and Z’s no hitter

New York is getting the Brewers-Reds as I write this. I think Fox made the right decision in selecting this game, as the Brewers are in a race for a Wild Card spot with the Mets. To me, this is a much better choice than a rather meaningless Cubs-Cardinals rivalry game.

The point is that Fox makes the choice for all of us - - why shouldn’t we have the choice of the game we all want to watch especially when we pay for the baseball package??? This is still America, right?

And the Cubs-Cardinals game is not meaningless to the fans of Chicago who might not be able witness their beloved Cubbies clinch their divison over their much hated rival the St. Louis Cardinals!!!!

Fox baseball regional coverage. The game that has the most significance for playoff implications is the Rays vs. Twins. The national coverage for this game is 18%. I am lucky because I live 25 miles from Tropicana Field (this is in St. Pete - I thought I would mention that because most sportscasters think it is in Tampa). The Cardinals vs. Cubs which has no playoff implications is 73%. The Brewers and Reds which has some wilcard implications is 9%.
My major beef with Fox is that most of the time during the course of the year, my choice is Yanks, Red Sox, Mets, or Braves.
I have Directv and the Fox sports package that I have purchased for the past 8 years or so. I can’t understand why I don’t have the opportunity to see the other games that are not the national game on one of the Fox Sports Channels. I pay a lot of money on baseball coverage and I do not feel as though I am getting as much as I could. Fox and Directv have monopolized the industry and prevent me from seeing the other games that are on at the Fox Saturday afternoon time slot. I pay for it and I should get the games. There is no excuse. There should be something done about this beginning next year. I want to be able to get every game on Saturday that is televised because I am a consumer that pays for all the packages on time and year after year.
I have sent emails before and I really didn’t expect to get an answer and a resolution to this, but I should because me and all the other people that pay for these services help pay your salaries.
Yours truly,
Phil Gagen

P.S. I am originally from Lafayette, IN and have been a Chicago White Sox fan all my life and still am. I have lived near St. Pete since 1975 and obviously have to be a Rays supporter also. I don’t know what to do if the White Sox play the Rays in the playoffs.

Being a die-hard Cubs fan for my entire 60+ year life, I was disappointed the Cubs-Cards were the Game of the Week. Listening to Tim McCahhh-vah TRY and cover a game is painful. He covers his own playing time quite well; it’s the only thing he really knows.
FOX needs to get rid of McCarver. He sucks.

When I said “meaningless,” I meant it in reference to the New York market, not to the game as a whole. I agree that Chicago deserved that game and that it did have playoff implications for them, but it would not have had any impact on the Mets, whereas Brewers-Reds definitely does.
