HBO High Definition Boxing Updates
Not sure if we missed it, or if it was just recently announced, but today we finally found confirmation that tonight’s HBO Boxing After Dark Tripleheader will be available in high definition.
There were also several other changes to the upcoming HBO boxing schedule, so we figured a post was in order:
May 17th at 9:45 PM ET: HBO BAD (Boxing After Dark) will feature three fights involving young upcoming boxers. The event will be carried live on HBO East, but tape delayed on HBO West.
May 31st Pay-Per-View Cancelled: The HBO PPV event featuring Sugar Shane Mosley’s fight with Zab Judah on May 31 was cancelled earlier this month. Judah injured his arm in an a trip and fall. Hope he has a good accident lawyer, since I don’t think he will get another opportunity at this payday. This cancellation certainly makes the folks over at CBS and EliteXC happy, since their premier event was scheduled for the same night.
June 7th and June 21st - Showtime and HBO go head to head: HBO and Showtime have scheduled two head-to-head broadcasts of high definition boxing. While certainly HBO and Showtime have broadcast live boxing on the same night before, this is the first time I can remember having both events in high definition. (Correct me if I am wrong.)
June 28th HBO PPV: A lightweight championship bout between Manny Pacquiano and David Diaz has been added to the upcoming HBO Boxing schedule.
