MLB All Star Game, Tuesday on Fox
The 2008 MLB All Star Game will be played on Tuesday, July 15th, broadcast on Fox in High Definition. Fox has exclusive rights to the game, as well as pre-game coverage, including a Hall of Fame ceremony starting at 8 PM EST. First Pitch is scheduled for 8:40 PM.
Fox has pulled out all the stops for its high definition coverage of the MLB All Star Game. Coverage includes 21 high definition cameras, also featuring Fox’s “HD Diamond Cams,” which are ground-level cameras, shooting home plate and the field from the foul-lines. NASCAR fans should recognize this view from “Digger” the Gopher Camera used during this season’s races. DirecTV will be providing aerial blimp shots, also planned to be in HD.
To compliment its 720p High Definition coverage, Fox will be using over 80 microphones around the stadium, plus additional ones placed on the players, umps and managers. Joe Buck and Tim McCarver get the announcer’s microphones.
