NFL Flex Schedule Week 15: Giants vs. Cowboys Stays on Sun. Night
As we suspected, NBC said “no thanks” when given the opportunity to switch out their Sunday night game for Week 15. They are keeping their marquee match-up between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys on Sunday December 14, at 8:15 PM ET. However, CBS did move the Pittsburgh vs. Baltimore and Denver vs. Carolina games from 1:00 to 4:15 PM ET.
Looking ahead to Week 16 of the NFL Schedule, we feel pretty confident that we will see NBC Flex their schedule and boot that San Diego at Tampa Bay game back to CBS. The scheduled afternoon games on CBS and Fox for December 21, are:
CBS
- Pittsburgh Steelers at Tennessee Titans*
- New York Jets at Seattle Seahawks
- Buffalo Bills at Denver Broncos
- Miami Dolphins at Kansas City Chiefs
- Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns
- Houston Texans at Oakland Raiders
FOX
- Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins*
- Carolina Panthers at New York Giants
- Atlanta Falcons vs. Minnesota Vikings
- Arizona Cardinals at New England Patriots
- New Orleans Saints at Detroit Lions
- San Francisco 49ers at St. Louis Rams
Although neither CBS, Fox or the NFL have confirmed which, if any, games have been protected for the afternoon by CBS and Fox, according to Sal, rumor has it that CBS has protected Pittsburgh/Tennessee and Fox protected Philadelphia/Washington (both of which would make sense looking at the schedule).
That leaves NBC with pretty slim pickings, and a likely choice between taking Carolina/NY Giants or Atlanta/Minnesota from Fox. If the locked games are right, we will likely see an announcement that those games are moved to late afternoon, since Buffalo/Denver is currently the only 4:15 PM ET game, which CBS certainly doesn’t want to be their de facto national game.
Any NFL Flex Schedule changes must be announced at least 12 days in advance, so we should hear something either later this week, or early next week.

I’m sure you know by now that Carolina-N.Y. Giants — a game that became a lot more attractive after the Week 14 results — was NBC’s choice. (By the way, Fox has the doubleheader for Week 16).
What I was wondering: Isn’t there a three-time limit for any single team in the NBC package? I believe this is the Giants’ fourth, unless the season opener doesn’t count.

What about the Denver/Carolina game, that should have been flexed for the week 15 game. HUGE playoff implcations for both teams. Carolina going for the number 1 seed and Denver 1 win from AFCW Title.
Man I hate living in Patriots country.
