Saturday 10/18 Football Coverage Maps

As with every Saturday during College Football season, ABC will air a different game during its 3:30 time slot to different areas around the country, depending on perceived interest in a specific game. To clarify which game will be broadcast in which area, ABC and ESPN 2 have released maps specifying which markets will receive particular games.

This week at 3:30 ABC will be broadcasting three College Football games. Only two of these, however, will be in HD. Most of the country will be watching Kansas take on Oklahoma in HD, but ABC is also broadcasting Ohio State vs Michigan State in HD and UNC vs Virginia in standard def at 3:30.

For the reverse mirror this week ESPN 2 will broadcast Ohio State vs Michigan State to most of the country, and UNC vs UVA will air to a smaller portion. Unfortunately the UNC vs UVA game won’t air in HD for any portion of the country, regardless of network, and those not receiving Kansas at Oklahoma on ABC will not be able to watch it on any network.

Wow, a 3:30ET Big 12 regional game is finally going to be available in HD from ABC?! I’m stunned beyond belief!

  2. Blaine Says:

Thats BS!!!!! Dude im in Georgia and we cant get an regional Big 12 game in HD! GO SOONERS by the way!!!! Stupid ACC!! Who give a crap. Now I have to watch it on GAMEPLAN which is only in SD!!! When in HD?????

  3. Drew Says:

I’m at a loss for words to understand why ABC/ESPN refuses to show a highly anticipated Big 12 game in the Northeast between 2 teams who may see each other again the Conference Championship game. Isn’t that what we want when it comes to deciding who should play in the B”sans C”S championship game?

And it extends all the way into Minnesota and Iowa too? What do they care about an ACC matchup between a decent Tar Heels team and a bottom dweller UVA team?

Kansas-Oklahoma should be automatically available to the whole country, with Michigan State-Ohio State & UNC-UVA split up between regions. Oh wait, silly me. That would be the logical choice. And TV networks never take the logical approach.

  4. Chucky Says:

Texas-Oklahoma was more highly anticipated than Kansas-Oklahoma.

Also, the Big 12 and Pac-10 have secondary contracts with FSN. For that reason ESPN cannot schedule a Big 12 or Pac-10 game in the Reverse Mirror.

  5. Drew Says:

If ESPN cannot schedule a Big 12 or Pac-10 game in the Reverse Mirror, then it should show KU-OU on ABC in NY, New England and Florida, and show OSU-MSU on ESPN2. I won’t get OU-MSU at all, and it has the most national championship implications of any of the 3.

Interesting that NC-UVA doesn’t rate as the ABC game in Tallahassee, Boston or Miami, all ACC markets.

  6. Tom Says:

Big Ten Country doesn’t care about Big 12 or ACC. The stupid Florida / LSU game last week fucked up my DVR recording and I missed my show completely.

  7. Tom Says:

Oops those arent SEC teams aren’t they? But still, we don’t give a shit about them or any other conference in Michigan.

  8. Mitch Says:

Funny to see Mythigan fans talking about what they care about. From a conference that can’t count, fans of a team that is horrible. Why would anyone care what Big Televen fans care about?

I’d much prefer to see KU vs. OU here in Knoxville, but realize I live in the land of the $EC and AC(is it bball season yet?)C.

  9. Tom Says:

Hey who has the most wins of all time in college football? I’ll give you a clue they’re in the Big Ten.

  10. Marcus Says:

I really wanna see KU-OU, but since my only other choices are the other 2 games, I’m SOL. Why?! That’s the one I was looking forward to most! How does UNC-UVa. get reverse mirror treatment over KU-OU?
