September 13 ABC/ESPN Coverage Maps
ESPN has released the College Football Coverage Maps for September 13, and fans of Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech will not be happy. Despite promising full high definition coverage of College Football this year, the Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech game will not be seen in HD this weekend on ABC or ESPN.
It’s true that Hurricane Ike messed with the scheduling. The Arkansas vs Texas game has been rescheduled for September 27, and that leaves ESPN with a three-way split for games this Saturday. Why that forces ESPN/ABC to broadcast the Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech game in Standard Definition, we’re left guessing.
Usually ESPN and ABC will broadcast all of their reverse mirror games in high definition, but not this week. Let’s hope this trend does not continue.
It’s not all bad, though. Oregon vs Purdue will be broadcast in high definition as part of the reverse mirror, and more than 30% of you will be receiving the Penn State vs Syracuse game in HD on ABC. Though everyone outside that blue area will not be getting the Penn State vs ‘Cuse game at all.
Good luck. Here’s the link to the rest of the 9/13 College Football Games.

I’m in St. Louis – Actually I would like to see the Penn State game – but ABC gave us something else. Too bad they didnt show it on ESPN or ESPN 2

What ABC should do is use thier -1 and -2 channels for over the air reception of all the games.

Not likely. Some small-market ABC stations use their DT subchannels for a different network.

What game is Erin covering September 13, 2008?

Actually, it looks like GT-VT is being filmed in HD. ESPN just showed highlights of the game in HD during the halftime show (I get GT-VT on ABC), but my ABC channel is not showing it in HD.
Could this be the same bandwidth issue that CBS was warning about?

Once again ABC stopped showing the Penn State game after the 3rd quarter and aired the Oregon vs. Purdue
Except that that game was also being aired on ESPN and the same time. Very UNFAIR!!!
Will the executives please try to resolve this
problem…This also happened last week .

Any idea who we can write in regards to this?
This is absolutely ridiculous. I’m still unclear on what the limiting issue is.
