Week 16 NFL Flex Schedule: Panthers v Giants Moved to Sun. Night
As we suspected, NBC decided to pass on the originally scheduled Sunday Night Football game for Week 16, San Diego Charges vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (which has been moved to 1:00 PM ET on CBS).
The NFL announced today:
- Carolina Panthers vs. New York Giants will be moved to Sunday Night on NBC at 8:15 PM ET
- Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins will be moved to 4:15 PM ET on Fox
- Atlanta Falcons vs. Minnesota Vikings will be moved to 4:15 PM ET on Fox
This leaves us to look ahead to Week 17, where NBC has a wide open field of games to choose from for their Sunday Night broadcast. The NFL did not schedule any other prime-time games for Week 17, Fox and CBS are unable to protect any games the last week of the season, and no teams have reached the maximum number of primetime appearances or NBC appearances this year according to our 2008 NFL Flex Schedule chart.
NBC doesn’t have to make their pick until six days before the game, so we have two more weeks of games before the Prime Time regular season finale will be announced. Therefore, we will respectfully defer our speculation for at least a week… but you can feel free to post your guess prediction.
Here are the possible games as they are currently scheduled:

Is the Steelers/Titans game on 12-21 staying at 1:00 ET or is it moving to 4:15?

@Waxer – Pittsburgh v Tenn game stays at 1p on CBS

most likely will be Philadelphia/Dallas
both are right there for playoff spots and if they win their next 2 games before this, probably only one will go, and its a really good rivalry with big fan bases.

Dolphins and Jets – book it! 1st place on the line, 2 major markets (NBC could use the help), the Parcells against NY story, the Pennington against former team story, Favre getting NY over the hump or failing. All kinds of great theater.

As much as I hate to agree with the preivous entry; I’m a huge Cowboys fan, there is much more drama/side stories to the Miami/NY Jets game. I’m OK with either since I’ll be able to watch them both. The way everything is coming together, it looks to be an incredible end to the regular season.

Giants were on NBC 4 times (including the opening Thursday ) so they cant be flex

DOLPHINS/JETS GAME!!!
Think about it:
1)AFC east division title on the line
2) Favre/ Pennington match-up, old team rejects pennington and he becomes a star somewhere else
3) Parcells back in NY
4) a divisional match-up!!!

Dolphins – Jets: Divisional matchup, winner wins the division, loser is watching on their couches. Not to mention, Dolphins are one of the best two stories in the NFL this year (arguably only because of Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons). Oh yea, dont forget Brett Favre, Chad Pennington, NY-Miami who have had some great thrillers such as the week 1 opener which came down to the last play. That’s it, case closed!

I think it could be a number of games, If San Diego and Denver set up for AFC West Championship game.

AFC West Championship over the AFC East Championship? I doubt it. Bring on Pennington.

Browns v. Steelers . . .because it doesn’t have to make sense!!
December 15th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
the local sports talk station in Detroit thinks NBC should pick the Lions / Packers game if the Lions lose to the Saints, so the whole country could see them go 0-16

Isn’t there also a rule that states that a team can appear on NBC no more than two times in the final seven weeks of the season (the flex schedule portion of the season)? If this is true, then the Cowboys-Eagles game on December 28 cannot be moved to NBC either, because the Cowboys were on NBC on Week 11 at Washington (November 16) and Week 15 at home against the New York Giants (two days ago).

As a Steelers fan, I’d love to see the Steelers/Clowns, but I know THAT is ridiculous.
As tempting as Cowgirls/Eagles is, I have to vote for Dolphins/Jets, too. I think there is more drama. Wow. More drama than TO? THAT says a lot! LOL
That is my unbiased opinion, but for selfish reasons, it may help me, too. Since the Dolphins are one of my “home” markets here in Florida, if they move to primetime, maybe I’ll get the Steelers on CBS at 1pm.
if not, I just got to my local Steelers bars and PAY to drink IC Lights with fellow fans. Maybe more fun, but also more expensive.
GO STEELERS … and good luck Dolphins!

Madden and Favre next week that why jets and dolphins
