Last chance for Womens Basketball in HD

Tuesday night is the NCAA Womens Basketball Championship game, and ESPN will be broadcasting it in 720p high definition. However, it may be the last game of womens basketball in HD this year, since there are currently no WNBA games scheduled.

The Women’s Final Four championship will feature the Stanford Cardinal vs. the Tennessee Lady Vols at 8:30 PM ET, April 8. This is will be the 15th game of the NCAA Womens Tournament that ESPN/ESPN2 have featured in high def this year.

For women’s basketball fans, television coverage has some catching up to do. ESPN and ABC are the sole national broadcast carriers for the WNBA 2008 season. According to an ESPN rep, there are currently no WNBA high definition broadcasts planned.
