ABC/ESPN2 Regional Map for September 5
ABC has also released their regional map for the upcoming week. A large majority of the country will get Georgia at Oklahoma State (78%) with the rest split between Western Michigan at Michigan (13%) and Baylor at Wake Forest (9%).
Disappointing news came with the ESPN2 coverage map. ESPN will still be broadcasting one of the games in the reverse mirror in standard definition. this weekend it is going to be Oklahoma State vs. Georgia. With that being the game that features two highly ranked teams in this window, there will probably be some complaining from fans in Wisconsin as they will only have Western Michigan vs Michigan in HD.
Other notes on the Baylor Wake Forest game. From Baylorbears.com “In Central Texas, KXXV (channel 25) will air Baylor’s first appearance on ABC since the 1997 season-finale at Oklahoma State. In addition, ABC’s DT stations in Dallas-Fort Worth (WFAA 8.2), Houston (KTRK 13.2), San Antonio (KSAT 12.2), Austin (KVUE 24.2) and Tyler (KLTV 7.2) are scheduled to carry Saturday’s game.” Thanks to Matt for this note.
For a listing of all the games that will be in HD this week please see the College Football Schedule. Also take a look at our College Football Preview. A list of ABC coverage maps is also available.

Please show the Georgia game in Indianapolis! Nobobdy cares about Michigan and Western Michigan…
September 2nd, 2009 at 2:52 pm
Can someone please explain to me what the point is of blacking out the ESPN2HD feed, but leaving the SD on?
I understand what blackouts are for, but not an HD only blackout.

Does anybody know how to find out what will be on in the Bahamas?
September 2nd, 2009 at 10:04 pm
I care about Michigan. The Georgia game will be on ESPN2 in Indy.

People in South Bend want to see the Dawgs as well. I can’t remember the last time I had to watch a game in standard definition, unless it was on ESPN Classic. Oh well, at least now I know that I can get the game at all now.

ZapBranigan: the reason that the espn2hd is blacked out in certain areas is because ESPN and ESPN2 each have the ability to offer only 1 HD feed each, wheras they have the ability to beam multiple feeds in SD across the country. So the main ESPN2 HD feed is showing Michigan v. Western Michigan (because the Big 10 tv contract requires the 3:30 ABC games to be nationally televised on ABC w/in region and ESPN2 out the region). This I believe is the first time that the ACC game isn’t the other reverse mirror.

I’m confused. Will WMU/Michigan be in HD on ABC in Michigan, or will it be on ESPN2?
September 2nd, 2009 at 11:26 pm
WMU Michigan will be in HD on ABC in Michigan.
September 3rd, 2009 at 12:19 am
Big Dawgs fan here in Maryland. So I’m guessing that I will get the baylor wake forest game on abc and georgia oklahoma state on espn2 in standard def?
September 3rd, 2009 at 5:18 am
But the second map says WMU / Michigan will be blacked out in the yellow territory. Is that a typo?
September 3rd, 2009 at 10:50 am
Who gives a crap about Wake Forest/Baylor or Western Michigan/Michigan?!?! All four of those teams are awful. Show the Dawgs!
September 3rd, 2009 at 11:44 am
Tom, That is because it will be on ABC. They are blacking out the HD channel there to show the Standard Definition feed of the Georgia/OK. State game. This is because they can only send out one HD feed on ESPN2 which will be the WMU/MICH game.

I live in western NC. Is it my understanding that UGA-Oklahoma State will not be on TV at all (except game plan)? Will all of us unfortunate souls whose hapless ABC affliate program directors picked up wake forest-Baylor be sentenced to miss the best game of the day?
September 3rd, 2009 at 9:14 pm
What’s up with the Waco area not showing OSU/UGA on the ESPN2 feed?? Waco is in the heart of Big 12 country…and honestly, more people would probably rather watch that game than Baylor, so why leave it off the table?? Very odd…

Who is the idiot that decided not to put the Ga. vs. Oklahoma St. game on espn2 or ABC in SC
September 4th, 2009 at 7:49 am
:YOu people are a bunch rip offs. That have something in with espn to get money off of this. Nobody gives a crap about baylor and wake forest!!!!!!! Georgia is ranked 13th in the country and Oklahoma State is ranked 9th. This game should be on!!!!! Our economy is in a recession and people are having to pay to see the best game of the day as far as rankings in the ap poles. I hope you people can sleep tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Can anyone tell me why Dish Network blacks out the 3:30 games on ESPN2? Every game last year was blacked out and they would only show the 3:30 ABC game.
September 4th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
So in Upstate South Carolina you have to order the UGA Ok ST game on game plan?
September 4th, 2009 at 9:09 pm
Those in the northeast would rather see Michigan over Oklahoma State!…Boston ABC should be showing the Michigan game!!!!
September 5th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Georgia game is blacked out on standard and HD in Indy…BS
September 5th, 2009 at 3:55 pm
why are we watching in louisiana a michigan nothing game while Georgia (sec) is playing – who decides this!
September 5th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
On Dish Network, you need to find the ESPN Alternate channel. The ESPN2HD and SD feeds are indeed both blacked out, but you can see the Georgia-OSU game on ESPN Alternate on channel 146.
September 5th, 2009 at 4:33 pm
put the GA/Ok St. game on now!!
September 5th, 2009 at 4:40 pm
In Indy on Uverse you can watch UGA on the ESPN Alt channels but it doesn’t even seem like a football game in SD … what a waste of a great matchup…I don’t get the one feed comments. Why can the rest of the county watch UGA on HD on ABC and Michigan on HD on ESPN2. Only the Big Ten markets are getting screwed?
September 5th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
we’ll I got my DAWGS here in jersey but ABC absolutely sux Picture quality is flat and the sound is so low my ears take a beatin during commercials. At least it’s not nd or michigan.
September 5th, 2009 at 5:26 pm
If someone in NC figures out how to get the UGA game (without spending $40) please post! Don’t have in SD, much less HD. Dish network not an option for us. We have Direct TV. Evern called Direct – can only get if purchase game plan for “3 payments of $44.95.”
September 5th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
Dish Network officially sucks. Explain to me how number 9 vs. number 13 is currently on and I am stuck with two games featuring four unranked teams (Mich. game and Wake game). This is absolutely pathetic. I can somewhat understand getting Wake b/c I’m currently in NC, but Mich? Seriously? Will the TV execs get it through their think skulls that there aren’t as many Mich fans as people believe, and even if there are, why the hell are we getting them in NC, especially against a no-name opponent. Dish Network sucks. I’m going with another subscribers.
