Big Ten Network Regional Maps September 5

College football is finally here, with the new beginning to the season we usually look forward to a few key match ups during the first week. To find one this week you are going to need to look some place other than the Big Ten. The maps are attached here with a link to a zip code game finder with permission from the Big Ten network.

With three FCS opponents this week, and the best game on the BTN being Akron at Penn State I say it is time for the Big 10 to beef up their schedules. This has been a disturbing trend to me ever since they added the 12th game to the schedule. It has turned into a an NFL style pre season game with a few good exceptions, but no where near as many as there should be. With six games involving teams from the top 25 against FCS teams this week. Most teams do not really have their season start until next week. I just wish there were more intra-sectional games like the Olkahoma State, Georgia game or the Ohio State USC game next week.

There will be five games on the Big 10 Network in the noon ET window on September 5, with Northern Illinois at. Wisconsin at 7 ET. All games on the Big Ten Network will be in HD this week.

For a listing of all the games that will be in HD this week please see the College Football Schedule. Also take a look at our College Football Preview.

The DirecTV channel listings are below.
AKRON VS. PENN STATE: channel 610 or 610 (HD)
MONTANA STATE VS. MICHIGAN STATE: channel 609 or 609-1 (HD)
TOWSON VS. NORTHWESTERN: channel 615 or 615-1 (HD)
NORTHERN IOWA VS. IOWA: channel 611 or 611-1 (HD)
TOLEDO VS. PURDUE: channel 612 or 612-1 (HD)

Why is Toledo not being shown at least in NW Ohio and SE Michigan? I guarantee people around here care a lot more about a team within an hour from home with a shot at an upset more than a team from across the state who is going to get killed by a top 10 team…..

  2. Tom Says:

The first 3 weeks of the Big Ten season are always non-conference opponents. Each team usually plays a MAC team or a random team from another conference. Then throw throw in other non-conference opponents later in the season. That’s how its always been.

By the way webmaster the official legal spelling is Big TEN (or as some called it Big T(elev)en.)

  4. HDSportsGuide Says:

It has been corrected. And it should be said that they have one of the more clever logos around.

  5. Tom Says:

The conference itself spells it Big Ten too FYI
