HD Sports News and Notes 5/19/2009

Today there are plenty of news stories in the world of HD sports. We thought it would be good to put down a few excerpts about what is happening.

First and foremost the NBA conference finals begin tonight with the Lakers and Nuggets. ESPN and ABC will have exclusive coverage of the Western Conference Finals, as well as the NBA finals. TNT will begin their coverage of the Eastern Conference Finals with Orlando at Cleveland tomorrow at 8:30 PM.

Today the NFL and Comcast reached a “long term” deal for NFL Network to be carried on their cable systems. NFL Network will be carried on the Digital Classic tier for all comcast subscribers. Their press release is here.

Comcast also had some good news for all college sports fans, although it is a little late for the spring championships. Comcast will begin carrying ESPNU, and espn360 in time for the upcoming college football season.

DirectTV will also begin carrying ESPNU on its choice package in time for next football season details from their press release here.

Also announced yesterday, the MLB and Fox have decided that they will move up start times for the ALCS and World Series a link to that press release is here. This will be great for everyone on the east coast that cannot stay up until two in the morning for every game, but bad for nine to five workers in the west.

Women’s Softball fans will be getting regional maps later this week. They will be posted as soon as we get them.

The INDY 500 will be this Sunday on ABC.

The French Open will also start this Sunday and DirecTV will be offering a French Open Mix channel.

If we left something out let us know in the comments section. This should be one of the best weeks ever for HD sports Viewing
