ABC Coverage Map for September 11
Week one gave us some warm up games, but the real season for college football starts this weekend. The ABC Coverage map for September 11 includes two very good games compared to last week. The featured game will be Florida State at Oklahoma going to 92% of the country. The rest of the country will get a game between the up and coming Iowa State Cyclones and Iowa Hawkeyes (8%).
Because it is September 11th if you want to watch the armed forces Air Force will be hosting BYU on Versus at 4:00 PM, Army will host Hawai’i on CBS college sports at noon, and Georgia Southern at Navy, which will also be on CBS C at 3:30.
As for the coverage, for those of us that don’t get the FSU Oklahoma game on ABC (me), it will be on ESPN2 in standard definition (outrage). The Big Ten made a great deal with ESPN that makes it certain that every ABC game will be a full national telecast in the reverse mirror on ESPN.
***There have been some updates to the maps for those of you in eastern Wyoming.

Who is the e-tard that decided Chicago was a hotbed for OU/FSU while Detroit was all about Iowa/ISU? I’d love to discuss the reasoning behind that derpish choice.

Wow. I can’t believe the Chicago station (WLS) decided to take FSU vs. Oklahoma over ISU – Iowa. Are you kidding me!! That is an outrage.
Both ISU and Iowa have far bigger fan bases and alums in the Chicago area than OU or FSU. Just look at last year’s Duke vs. ISU basketball game at the United Center. A crappy ISU team had more fans than Duke! Plus, Iowa fans are all over Chicago!
Unbelievable. Maybe a call to WLS is in order.

Who cares that the Iowa game isn’t on ABC in Chicago. You can watch it on ESPN2 in HD. The marquee game is FSU/OU which is why it’s going to most of the country.

Exactly. Not sure why anyone would be upset when you’ll get the Iowa/Iowa State game in HD on ESPN2 anyway. If it was reversed, you’d be stuck with OU/FSU (the better game of the two) being in SD only on ESPN2 instead.

Fenix and Rob, you do remember that you live in the midwest, right? Have a hard time thinking of FSU and OU as being a “marque game” and not everyone in the chicagoland area has cable! I could care less about the game abc has chosen to air, so, I’ll chose a different option.

Why would ABC not show Miami at Ohio State? I think more people want to watch that game vs the other two…unfortunatelly not everyone gets ESPN…like us in Canada who CAN’T get it even though we would pay through the nose to get it.

why is only one game (Iowa-Iowa State) on HD whether it’s on ABC or ESPN2, yet the other (FSU-Okla) is only in HD if it’s on ABC, yet where it is on ESPN2, it’s only in SD? That doesn’t make sense.

My daughter is working today but HAS TO see the FSU-Oklahoma game (she’s an FSU grad)
Can you tell me how and when I would have an opportunity to view a replay of this game

Jim, the game should be archived on espn3.com within a few days, I’m sure. If her ISP participates/pays, she should be able to see it there. They will also carry the game live, in non-blacked out areas.

The reason why Iowa/Iowa St is not the first choice in Chicago is obvious. First, while Chicago is definately Big 10 country it is not really Iowa or Iowa St territory. They both rank behind ND, Michigan, Illinois, Northwestern and Wisconsin for sure and are no more popular than a few other Big 10 teams like Indiana and MSU. If you love the Big 10 you will be watching Michigan/ND or Ohio St/Miami on other channels. However, if you are one of the many non-big 10 fans in Chicago, FSU/Oklahoma is a much better matchap. All the Nebraska, Mizzou, KU fans may want to watch the Big 12 team (yes, I know Iowa St is Big 12!). Plus, the pro sports fans that are not hard core college fans would much rather watch name programs like FSU and OU over Iowa or Iowa St. Hence, the overall viewership this weekend probably means WLS chose correctly.

I’m from Detroit but will be in florida next weekend. The 8pm games are Mich State/Notre Dame and Texas Tech I believe. I’ll be in the Ft. Meyers area. And idea what I might get?

Will someone explain why the non-Big 10 game (OU-FSU in this case) is only available in SD in the Big 10 region. Why are they unable to stream the HD feed?
