Butler games not on in Indiana??
March 15th, 2010 at 12:51 pm
The Butler vs. UTEP game will most likely only be available in the Butler and UTEP primary markets (ie., states of Indiana and Texas). The same is the case for Texas A&M vs. Utah State (states of texas and Utah). As in the past, these two games are also available on DirecTV’s Mega March Madness.
March 15th, 2010 at 12:55 pm
The 5 p.m. EST games also are on College Sports Television (cable).
March 15th, 2010 at 1:35 pm

Thanks Mike and JB, Copy and paste error.
March 15th, 2010 at 3:17 pm
You sure about Thursday 12:00PM games? Robert Morris is located in Pittsburgh and that CBS affiliate/region is showing only flex feed for that game. I’d think they would show constant and not flex feed.
March 15th, 2010 at 3:22 pm
RM, This is just the preliminary map, but I know it used to happen to us in Salt Lake City when one of the smaller schools like Weber State was on. We would get flexed all over the place, but because this is an in state match up, I wouldn’t be surprised if that changes by the time they finalize it tomorrow.
March 15th, 2010 at 5:31 pm
Maps are great, but what about Alaska and Hawaii? Also interesting that each map has a different name (March Madness Map, NCAA Regional Tournament Map, etc.) No idea why I notice that stuff. Anyway, nice work.
March 15th, 2010 at 6:32 pm
The Friday night games listed on this page are switched between the Jacksonville and Spokane sites. For example, Duke vs. Play-in game winner is in Jacksonville with Nantz and Kellogg, not in Spokane with Brando and G-man.
March 15th, 2010 at 6:40 pm
Thank You! These Maps are so Great! Is it possible to have the windows on the maps themselves(game/ann/site/color legend)?
AK- I notice those things too (different names)!!
Looking forward to the great updates!!

So does “constant” mean no cutaways, and “main” mean there will be cutaways?
March 16th, 2010 at 5:07 pm
Just because it’s a “constant” doesn’t mean there won’t be any cutaways. For the most part, constant feeds stay with the same game for its entirety, but if another game is ending, they can (and usually will) cut to that ending (just asked MSU fans about that as last year we didn’t see the end of the MSU-USC game so they could take us to another game, despite clearly receiving a “constant” feed of MSU-USC). Once that game is done then you are immediately sent back to your game. “Main”, or as CBS calls them, “Flex feeds”, will move you around from game to game to get you to the most exciting game.
If you have Mega March Madness from DirecTV, if a “Constant” feed is temporary moved to another game (such as the finish of another game), DirecTV will cut to the backhaul feed (which is the feed from the stadium) so you don’t miss any of the game.
March 16th, 2010 at 5:14 pm
Thanks. Another quick question for you:
I’m in Vegas and have DirecTV’s MMM package. I’m assuming the MSU/NMSU game will be our “main” feed… Does that mean I’m going to have to put up with all those cutaways? Just because that game is my “local” game, and the MMM won’t even apply?
March 16th, 2010 at 5:15 pm
And again, since I’m in Vegas… MSU vs. New Mexico state will likely be my “main” game, right, due to my vicinity to New Mexico… but it probably won’t be my “constant” game. Does that mean if I stay at mi casa, I should be able to watch online during the cutaways? Or does that mean they’ll black MSU out online when the game cuts away?
March 16th, 2010 at 5:31 pm
When are the Friday maps coming??
March 16th, 2010 at 6:52 pm
If you do have the MSU/NMSU game on your local CBS affilite, it will be blacked out on MMM (even if you are only getting the main/flex feed). However, if CBS swings you to another game, then DirecTV will lift the blackout and you can watch the rest of the MSU/NMSU game via the constant feed on MMM. It may take a couple of minutes for DirecTV to catch up, so just keep checking the DirecTV constant feed as eventually the blackout will be lifted (sometimes takes a couple of minutes).

March 17th, 2010 at 6:11 am
Good question, have the links to the Friday coverage maps just not been posted yet, or do we not know?
March 17th, 2010 at 10:00 am
Yeah I need to know if I am going to get to watch my Yellow Jackets play friday night or if I need to buy the package thru direct tv.

If you need help with the decision process, broadcast the Georgia Tech Game in North Alabama for the Friday, Window 3 coverage.

Thanks for posting the coverage maps! I couldn’t find this information anywhere. Love your work.

The Texas A&M – Utah game was originally going to air in Salt Lake City, Waco, Bryan, Houston, and Tyler. Aggies have organized call-in/email campaigns using the website texags.com and gotten affiliates in Dallas, Austin, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and Wichita Falls to call CBS and request the game. The affiliates in Austin and Dallas have updated the program guides on their websites to show them showing the game. The other haven’t (yet?).

FYI the Greenville SC, Spartanburg, Anderson, Asheville, NC TV market will be getting the Wake/Texas game, not Tennessee. Also, they will be showing the Friday Wofford game on the CW network at the same time as Clemson.

March 18th, 2010 at 11:42 pm
Speaking of the Greenville, SC area….CBS left the Marquette/Washington game with about 2 minutes or so to bring us the beginning of the Wake/Texas game. We completely missed everything up until Marquette’s hail mary. CBS College gave us a live look in with 1.7 seconds left but nothing before that so we missed the game winner. Way to drop the ball CBS.
March 19th, 2010 at 1:12 am
As Hamsterdamn mentioned the 5 PM games are televised nationally on CBS college sports. The friday game is Texas A&M vs. Utah State. If your cable or satellite provider carries CBSCS, then you should be able to watch it since there is a free preview this week.
March 19th, 2010 at 3:52 pm
CBS screws up coverage every year. They don’t understand what the viewers really want to see …the big time upsets and the last minutes of close games.
Last night I wanted to see the ending of Ohio’s big time upset of Georgetown but they wouldnt shift.
They also failed to shift on a few of the close games until you have a second left…when your game on mya have some 12-16 minutes left in the second half.
Outside of the immediate markets like for the Wake Forest-Texas game which woould be the Greensboro/Raleigh-Durham and Austin/San Antonio markets should be the only one required to move.
I was locked on the washington-marquette game so I couldnt see some the endings of the other upsets.
If you have digital cable your affiliate may have alternate stations which they will pick up another game feed that you can flip to.
With Saturday games:
Murray-State-Butler
Primary: KY and IN markets…secondary: West of the mississippi
Ohio-Tennessee
Primary: Tennessee, Ohio…Secondary: Southeast, Atlantic, Northeast, Michigan.
Washington-New Mexico
Primary: Washington and Portland, New Mexico and El Paso
Secondary: All places in Mountain time zone on west
ODU-Baylor
Primary: Norfolk, Richmond, Texas
Secondary: Texas, all southeast, mid atlantic, and north east.
Northern Iowa-Kansas
Primary: Iowa, Kansas, Kansas City
Secondary Midwest and Great Lakes.
BYU-Kansas State
Primary: UT, KS, Kansas City
Secondar : West of the Mississippi
Wake Forest-Kentucky
Primary: North Carolina, Kentucky, Cincinati
Secondary: East of the Mississippi.

As a “rabid Kentucky fan” (but not one who complained), I am sorry the fervor of some of my bretheren screwed the pooch so to speak. As I don’t live in Kentucky, I do come to this site often to check the availaibility of UK telecasts in my area. And I will add you do a great job and I am extremely grateful for what you do.
But the underlying problem is that CBS – unlike ABC and FOX – has never made regional casting information available on its site. That would have been the first thing I would have told them when they cut you off.
Again, sorry for the issue and thank you for the info you do provide to us UK fans who appreciate it.

Being locked into the silly Kentucky vs. ETSU game last night here in Knoxville was BRUTAL.
I’ll once again head to the bar to watch my Kansas State Wildcats tomorrow night. Last time I paid for MMM on DirecTv, they still switched from games even if you were watching the specific feed for the game you wanted to watch. So, in effect, you weren’t getting anything for your money.

Why would they plan the Gaucho and Cal game at the same time? Also, why would they show the Cal game in SoCal when the Gauchos are a SoCal/Central Cal team?
This makes no sense. Go Gauchos, at least we have beer.

That’s a shame you cannot post the maps. CBS has lousy coverage anyway! That’s why I buy MMM. I hope you can somehow make good with your contact and get the maps back up. They were awesome!

Per the spreadsheet: Xavier/K-State not on in Cincinnati? Nor in much of Texas (Big 12 country)? Are we sure about that?
March 24th, 2010 at 2:13 am
We have been using these spreadsheets as a base, but using common sense as to which cities we think are incorrect and double checking them on zap2it.com. http://www.hdsportsguide.com/news/2010/ncaa-tournament-sweet-sixteen-thursday-late-map/ has the map with the preliminary, but accurate as far as we can tell, information.
Please add comments if you see cities that are incorrect on the map.
