This time slot will feature three games. Although they may not be the best games of the weekend, there is a rivalry game (Kentucky at Louisville) and two out of conference games with BCS teams which will be shown in the reverse mirror on ESPN2. They are Connecticut at Michigan and UCLA at Kansas State.

In my mind the storyline of the first week of the season is about non-AQ BCS teams playing BCS teams. The biggest game of those comes on Labor Day with Boise State and Virginia Tech in DC. Other huge games are Pitt at Utah on Thursday, then Saturday TCU plays Oregon State in Cowboys stadium and BYU hosts Washington.

The one big game with two teams from AQ BCS conferences is LSU vs North Carolina on Saturday night.

Although the fact that the BCS still exists drives me crazy, it is nice to have it on a network that carries football games all season.

As in previous seasons it has a heavy mix of Big East and ACC games. Also this season there will be additional games on ESPNU (scroll to the bottom to see the secondary games) in case there is a blowout on ESPN. As always the football season gets its big start with a match up on Thursday night. The opening national game will be Southern Miss at South Carolina, and here is to hoping that South Carolina makes it more fun than the NC State snoozer last year.

    Some of the biggest games this year are Miami at Pittsburgh on 9/23, UCLA traveling to Oregon on 10/21 and Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech on 11/4. Then the season closes with two rivalry games, Texas A&M at Texas on 11/25 and Arizona St. at Arizona on 12/2.

    I just want the season to start.
