College Football Schedule Notes

With college football season 69 days away here are some notes about the television coverage of the college football season. We are currently creating the schedule so be sure to check back to see what games will be in HD this year.

2009-10 College Football Bowl Schedule

With college football only 70 days away it is time to get started on some pre-season information that can be useful throughout the year. Below is the Bowl Schedule with the conferences that are affiliated with each game. But every time I see the bowls I dream of a playoff.

Mountain West Playoff Plan

The Mountain West Conference is the only conference to not have signed the BCS contract, and as such have submitted a plan to make college football have a playoff. There are a few interesting things here.
1. Forming a selection committee similar to the way the NCAA tournament works.

2008 College Football Bowl Schedule

Bowl season is arguably the best time in the College Football season, and typically no matter who your root for from August to November you can find at least a few Bowl Games to make the Holidays that much brighter.

College Football Championship Weekend Schedule

The College Football season’s winding to a close and this weekend is the bittersweet end until January’s Bowl Games. The Championship games being played this weekend for both Div. I and II span across ABC ESPN ESPN 2 and FSN. This Championship Weekend schedule is different from the usual 12, 3:30, 8 game windows we’re used to seeing, so be sure to double check the times.

November 29 College Football Maps

Looks like ABC and ESPN 2 are taking it easy after Thanksgiving, as they’re only airing 2 games at 3:30 this week as opposed to the 3-4 we’ve gotten used to. The good news is that there’s pretty expansive HD coverage on both networks.

November 22 College Football Coverage Maps

ABC and ESPN’s reverse mirror this week offers up lots of HD and little variety. ABC will air 3 games at 3:30, 2 in HD and 1 which will be broadcasted to a large majority of US markets. ESPN will be broadcasting 1 HD game at 3:30, but nearly the whole country will be receiving it over the SD version.

November 1 College Football Coverage Maps

The College Football Maps for this week have been released, and two of the four ABC 3:30 games will be in HD. ESPN will carry the reverse mirror, airing only 1 HD game. As far as ABC goes, as long as you’re on the East Coast, you’ve got HD coverage. Otherwise, sorry.

Saturday 10/18 Football Coverage Maps

As with every Saturday during College Football season, ABC will air a different game during its 3:30 time slot to different areas around the country, depending on perceived interest in a specific game. To clarify which game will be broadcast in which area, ABC and ESPN 2 have released maps specifying which markets will receive particular games.

October 18th College Football

It’s early yet, but the schedules for this coming Saturday’s College Football are being finalized. We’ll know as early as tomorrow about regional broadcasts and coverage maps, but for now feel free to check ESPN and ABC’s possible lineup.
