College Football Preview

With college football just around the corner, I thought it would be best to get the input of one of the most avid football fans I know. So here is what Todd Crabb has to say about the upcoming season, with a HD spin.

ABC/ESPN2 Regional Map for September 5

ABC has also released their regional map for the upcoming week. A large majority of the country will get Georgia at Oklahoma State (78%) with the rest split between Western Michigan at Michigan (13%) and Baylor at Wake Forest (9%).

SEC Network Regional Affiliations

ESPN sent out a press release today that has a pretty impressive list of affiliates for the new “SEC network”. As a part of the reported $2.2 billion deal between the SEC and ESPN they will broadcast live football and basketball games. The most important of which are the morning SEC games that included the ‘Old Miss Florida upset. That SEC game of the week will now start at 12:21 Eastern.

The Mtn HD Will be Back

The MountainWest Sports Network, or the mtn. will be broadcasting more games in HD this football season. We were expecting more HD games from them but they had been silent until now. They will broadcast all their football games from November 14-28 in HD.

CBS College Sports Mountain West Conference Schedule

As football season edges closer we got a tweet about CBS College Sports carrying more games in HD this season. Last year we called it a joke, but CBS CS has improved their offering with all their MWC games in HD this year. CBS College Sports HD will be carrying 10 MWC games in High Definition including a simulcast of the BYU Utah game from the mtn. Notable games include two games with commander in chief implications (Air Force at Navy and Army at Air Force) with a couple possible BCS elimination games (Utah at TCU and Utah at BYU).

ESPN Thursday Night College Football Schedule

The schedule has been announced for the 2009 Thursday night football schedule on ESPN. There will be some exciting games this year. Starting out with a Oregon at Boise State with early BCS implications. Other notable games include the Civil War and Texas vs Texas A&M on Thanksgiving.

2009-10 College Football Bowl Schedule

With college football only 70 days away it is time to get started on some pre-season information that can be useful throughout the year. Below is the Bowl Schedule with the conferences that are affiliated with each game. But every time I see the bowls I dream of a playoff.

Mountain West Playoff Plan

The Mountain West Conference is the only conference to not have signed the BCS contract, and as such have submitted a plan to make college football have a playoff. There are a few interesting things here.
1. Forming a selection committee similar to the way the NCAA tournament works.

2008 College Football Bowl Schedule

Bowl season is arguably the best time in the College Football season, and typically no matter who your root for from August to November you can find at least a few Bowl Games to make the Holidays that much brighter.
