As the rainy conditions that caused Monday night’s suspension of Game 5 of the World Series continue, the MLB has announced that the game will not resume tonight, as originally planned, but tentatively will continue Wednesday at 8:37 PM.

After a five game NLCS and a seven game ALCS the World Series Schedule for 2008 is finally set. The Philadelphia Phillies will play the Tampa Bay Rays in a possible seven game World Series.

A tight race in the American League has forced Major League Baseball Officials to release the fast-approaching 2008 Playoff Schedule with tentative matchups pending an additional regular season make-up game which may force a one game playoff on Tuesday.

The MLB regular season is set to end on Monday, but close playoff races could lead to a playoff on Tuesday, which was originally set to be an off day. That, plus the looming storms in Florida and the Carolinas the could force rain delays have huge implications for scheduling.

It’s a week of firsts and lasts for Fox, as Saturday, September 27 marks the final regular season Game of the Week for 2008 and the first time the network will feature 4 simultaneously-broadcast games at 3:30. All 4 games have playoff implications, as the regular season comes to an end after this weekend and the Playoffs are set to begin on Wednesday.

Fox has again released its regionalization plans for the Saturday Game of the Week. Unlike last week which featured a pretty even Fox distribution, this weekend has a very uneven spread. For Saturday, August 30th, Fox will broadcast the Phillies vs the Cubs to 90% of the US.

For Week 21 of the MLB Fox is doing something we’ve been unaccustomed to this season so far. The three games that Fox will simulcast on Sunday August 23 will get nearly the same number of broadcast markets, making it one of the most evenly distributed Saturday Fox MLB games this year.
