ESPNU will be carrying the first round of the women’s softball regional in HD. ESPNU confirmed this minutes ago. The region features number 10 ASU on their home diamond with Cal-State Fullerton, SDSU and LSU. The press release is attached at the end of this article.

The 2009 NCAA Division I softball tournament is set to begin May 15. With added coverage from ESPN U, this will be the most extensive coverage of the NCAA tournament to date. The family of ESPN networks will carry up to 48 games over the next few weeks including the entire college softball world series in HD.

ESPN will once again be covering all 15 games of the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championships. This year 11 games will be in High Definition. Including every game from the Quarterfinals on ESPNU the Semifinals on ESPN2 and the Memorial day tradition of having the Finals on ESPN in HD on Monday May 25. ESPN and ESPN2 will be presenting all games of the 2008 NCAA Baseball World Series in high definiton. While the Championships began last week with standard definition coverage of the Regionals and Super Regionals, as many as 17 games of the College World Series Round will be in HD, starting Saturday, June 14th

Months after the announcement about the launch of ESPNU HD, we have added the first high definition 2008 college football games which will air on the network. In fact, we received confirmation from our contact at ESPN that ALL Live 2008 NCAA Football games scheduled for ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN U and ABC will be available in high definition.

The NCAA Division I Women’s Softball Championship begins Friday, May 16th. There are 45 scheduled games between ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU, with up to 17 high definition games for the World Series beginning May 29th
