The Wimbledon Semifinals begin today and the Championship continues through the weekend with the Women’s Final on Saturday at 9:00 AM ET and Men’s Final on Sunday at 9:00 AM ET on NBC High Definition.
UPDATE: The alignment of the stars held up… Serena Williams and Venus Williams face off for the Ladies Final on Saturday and Roger Federer will face Rafael Nadal on Sunday in the Men’s Final.

The 2008 Wimbledon Championship started this morning with coverage in ESPN2. While we were initially told by our contact at ESPN that all of their coverage would be available in high definition, turns out that they are actually only upconverting a standard definition widescreen feed. However, it appears that NBC is still planning to broadcast their Wimbledon coverage in high definition starting June 28th.

During the 2008 French Open tennis tournament, May 25 to June 1, DirecTV will offer a free preview of the Tennis Channel to all subscribers and feature an exclusive French Open Interactive Mix Channel during the first eight days of the tournament action at Roland-Garros.

Starting in 2009, the U.S. Open Tennis Championship will be shown on ESPN 2 and Tennis Channel, instead of USA Network. According to Multichannel News, a new deal is expected to be announced today, with ESPN2 airing 100 hours of live coverage and Tennis Channel airing 60 hours a year. The deal will go from 2009 through 2014.
